Learning Iris by the goo goo dolls?

I know nothing about music or guitars (Good start I know) but I want to learn iris by the goo goo dolls! I know this is more acoustic sounding than electric, But I really fancy learning a electric guitar. Am I kidding myself or is there any advice anyone could give me??? Remember I will need this explaining like you would explain it to a four year old.

   Its kind of a weird song. Don’t learn guitar to play one song. Get a guitar, teach yourself how to play it (literally, or get lessons, maybe even try those ridiculous online tutorials), then go look it up on a tab website when you feel ready.
